It always seems like September is a 'starting' point in the year. I guess from the time we start school and our kids start September represents the beginning of something..... It's been a few years since I went to school, and there's one more kid who's still in school but he manages incredibly well on his own and I have nothing to do with school any longer. So, why is there this feeling to get back into gear when September rolls around?
I seem to have a schedule these days, complete with appointments, commitments and deadlines..... and I'm ok with that. I do tend to try really hard to fit everything in but I am starting to realize that I cannot do everything. For instance, in the last two weeks, there were 4 events that I could have attended. I had to let go of the idea of the 5 day class in the midst of everything because I am NOT a Rockstar anymore.... I can't do it all - naps are too important nowadays.....
I was able to spend a few days in Grand Forks at the Heart n Sew retreat put on by Rae and Steph from Heart n Sole Quilts in Grand Forks, BC. Great space to sew and awesome food and wonderful company lends itself to some projects getting done. We have to get ourselves back to our 'home' for the weekend, so we waited until we got there to have a bottle, oops I mean, glass of wine or two (there were 3 of us) out on the deck and watched the bears wander thru the yard below us.
I was also able to meet up with some Kootenay girls to get their quilts back to them.
Barb W picked up her fall quilt, kind of a crazy patch block and stars in the corners of the sashings.
Grace got her Petals, each of the background fabrics had words on them and the backing was words too. Fun to quilt!
Sharon's Stack and Whack Dresdens Plates are stunning.... I am sad that the pictures didn't turn out but you can see it in person Oct 2 and 3 at the Kootenay Quilters Show in Nelson, BC at the Prestige Inn.
So I've been getting some things ready to teach some classes at Poppins Quilt Parlour in Penticton. Here's what we have scheduled: October 15, The Simplest Quilt in the World. November 8, Starlit Tree Skirt and November 15 Summer Sunset Bargello. Here's a link to the websit for Poppins Quilt Parlour, and you can get in touch with them to sign up for classes.
I am currently 'caught up' with quilting so if you have something you need quilted before Christmas 2015(yes, this year) I'm your gal.
